Databases
Databases for gamers is going to be drastically different than other scholarly databases. What I have included are going to be databases with pretty much everything a gamer would need to know for specific games. I have included a database for royalty free RPGs, for those interested in playing more fan-created campaigns.
1. Pen & Paper News. (2012) Databases. Retrieved from http://www.pen-paper.net/databases/
Pen and Paper has hosted a site that is actually a database of about four different databases, each based on a specific tabletop RPG. The first database is for Dungeons and Dragons and is an extremely detailed index of all things D & D, as well as cross references to related games. The other three are lesser known and lesser played games, including Star Wars RPG, the 1st edition of Exalted, and World of Darkness, a vampire RPG. These databases are one stop shops for players and gamemasters alike.
2. Pen & Paper News. (2012) Free RPG Database. Retrieved from http://www.angelfire.com/ky/rpgworld/
Hosted by the same company, the Free RPG Database is a very useful database as it lists royalty free RPG games, books, and resources. The link for the free RPG games shows several (often user created) RPG games with guide books, player books, rule lists, world generators, etc. All of this is downloadable content from outside links. Many of those links also link to more downloadable content. This is a great database for the more casual gamer or for someone looking to create an RPG.
3. Pathfinder SRD. (2012)D20 Patfinder SRD. Retrieved from http://www.d20pfsrd.com/
Pathfinder SRD is just one of several SRD (System Reference Documents) out there for different games. This one is over the wildly popular Pathfinder RPG. This included all and everything needed to know from both the player and game master standpoint. This database also list 3rd party content that works within the realm of Pathfinder games. There are also links to other databases similar to this for other gaming systems.
4. Wizards of the Coast. (2012) Revised (v.3.5) System Reference Document. Retrieved from http://www.wizards.com/default.asp?x=d20/article/srd35
Hosted by Wizards of the Coast, this is another SRD for arguably the most popular tabletop RPG, Dungeons and Dragons, this SRD is for the version 3.5, which is thought by many as the best version of the rule sets. Later editions have been published, but underwent massive changes to the rule set. This offers tools to both player and dungeon master and is hosted entirely online.
